Download Points

The RALS™ SYSTEM provides the ability to configure download points for devices. A download point can be one of three types: Network, Serial, or Workstation.

A download point is an association between a network address and a RALS™ SYSTEM location. When a device is downloaded, if the transmission comes from a known download point, then that download point’s assigned location will be used as the device’s download location.

Types

The following types of download points are available:

Network Used for devices that are connected to the network (e.g., via a downloader like a DIGI, RRC via USB or serial, ethernet cable, wireless)
Serial Used for devices that connect to a computer/workstation via a serial connection
Workstation Computer serving as a connector for serial devices

Last Ping Status

RALS™ SYSTEM will regularly attempt to ping network points. The following last ping statuses are applicable to network download points:

Icon Status Notes
Success Indicates that a response was received from the last ping
No Response Indicates that a response was NOT received from the last ping

Institution Access

A download point’s institution identity is defined by user selection when the download point is created.
