Assignments
Quiz assignments are created automatically for each operator-quiz pair when a quiz is assigned using one of the three assignment methods.
When an operator takes a quiz, a record of the quiz attempt is created and reflects whether they passed or failed. The number of allowed attempts is configurable on the quiz.

Assignment and Attempt Statuses
Quiz attempts and assignments have separate statuses.
The following statuses are applicable to quiz attempts:
Icon | Status | Notes |
---|---|---|
Not Started | Operator has not yet attempted this quiz | |
Passed | Operator passed this quiz attempt | |
Failed | Operator failed this quiz attempt |
The following statuses are applicable to quiz assignments:
Icon | Status | Notes |
---|---|---|
Not Started | Operator has not yet attempted this quiz | |
Passed | Operator passed the most recent quiz attempt | |
Failed | Operator failed the most recent quiz attempt | |
Locked | Operator has failed this quiz too many times and the quiz assignment is now locked | |
Expired | Operator did not pass the quiz before the Quiz Expiration Date; if multiple time zone support is enabled, the expiration is calculated based on your time zone preference | |
Unassigned | Operator was once assigned to this quiz and the most recent attempt is failed (Note: If the operator previously passed the quiz, the assignment status will remain “Passed”) |
Taking a Quiz
Operators with permission to take quizzes can start a quiz from the assignment. When a quiz is started, the configured Summary Statement, Introductory Statement, and Training Material URL are displayed. When clicked, the Training Material URL will open in a new window. The Training Material URL does not have to be clicked before continuing with the quiz.
An answer must be selected for each question before submitting the quiz. Once submitted, a dialog will display the quiz score and assignment status.
Viewing Quiz Attempt Details
After clicking the submit button, the quiz attempt details will be displayed as a dialog with the Completion Pass/Fail Statement (if configured), warning message if the quiz is locked out, quiz score, and assignment status.
The dialog also displays a summary of the select answers and whether they were correct. The correct answers are only displayed if the operator has eQuiz View/Manage permissions or if Show Correct Answers After Attempt is configured for the quiz.
This dialog can be reopened and viewed at any time.
Printing a Certificate
After passing a quiz, a certificate can be viewed at any time from the attempt details dialog. The certificate will open in a new browser tab or window, depending on the operator’s browser settings. It can then be printed using the browser’s print function.
If multiple time zone support is enabled, the completion date displayed on the certificate is based on your time zone preference (not the time zone of the operator who took the quiz).
Unlocking a Quiz Assignment
A quiz assignment can be unlocked by unchecking Quiz Lockout on the assignment details page. This checkbox can only be used to unlock a quiz assignment. Quiz assignments cannot be manually locked.
Institution Access
An assignment’s institution identity is based on the assigned operator’s home institution and the quiz’s institution. Operators with permission to view and manage quizzes can only view quiz/manage assignments within their institution access.
Certification Group Access
An assignment’s certification group identity is defined by the certification group selected for the quiz. Only assignments within a user’s certification group access will be visible; see Certification Group Access for more information.
Adding
Quiz assignments can be added in two ways:
- From the quiz itself (see Assigning a Quiz)
- As a bulk action on the operators data table (see Bulk Editing)
Editing
Quiz assignments can be edited.
Cloning
Quiz assignments cannot be cloned.
Deactivating or Deleting
Quiz assignments cannot be deactivated or deleted.
If an operator is unassigned before attempting to take the quiz, the assignment will be removed. See Unassigning a Quiz for more information about unassigning a quiz.
Bulk Editing
Quiz assignments cannot be bulk edited from the assignments data table.
Quiz assignments can be bulk edited from the operators data table. A quiz assignment will be created for each unique operator-quiz pair if:
- The selected operator’s institution access matches the quiz’s institution; and
- The assignment doesn’t already exist
Quizzes cannot be unassigned from the operators data table.
