Device files come from the device manufacturers and are used to provide data to devices, such as firmware updates and range definitions. When a device file is uploaded to the RALS™ SYSTEM, a device file record is created.

Institution Access
Device files are a system-wide resource without any institution identity.
Adding
Device files can be added for device types that:
- are enabled in the system; and

Editing
Device file records cannot be edited, but the file itself can be overwritten. To overwrite a device file, add it to the RALS™ SYSTEM again with the same name as the existing file.
Cloning

Deactivating or Deleting
Device files can be deleted. Deleted device files cannot be reactivated in the RALS™ SYSTEM, but it can be re-added as new a device file.
If a device file has schedules outside your institution access, the device file cannot be deleted. If a device file has schedules within your institution access, the schedules will be deleted in addition to the device file itself.
See Schedules for more information.
