Result Statuses
A result will be in one of the following states:
Icon | Status | Notes |
---|---|---|
|
Acknowledgement Pending | Result was sent outbound; waiting to receive enhanced acknowledgement; see Interfacing System Settings for more information on option to fail Acknowledgement Pending results |
|
Upload Pending | Result is in the process of being sent outbound |
|
Do Not Upload | Result will not be sent outbound |
|
Reassigned | Result was reassigned to a different patient |
|
Upload Complete | Result was successfully sent outbound |
|
Evaluate | Result is flagged; action must be taken prior to upload |
|
Incomplete | Result cannot be evaluated until missing details are entered |
|
Upload Failed | Result failed to be sent outbound (check outbound failure field) |
Sample Types
Every result has a device-type-specific sample type. All device-type-specific sample types are classified in one of the following groups:
- Calibration Result
- CVP Result
- Electronic QC
- Linearity Result
- Other
- Patient Result
- Proficiency Result
- QC Result
- Simulator Result
Institution Access
A result’s institution identity is defined by the result’s location. Result location is determined automatically when the result is initially processed by the RALS™ SYSTEM. By default, the result’s location will be set to the device’s assigned location. However, some device types support an option for using the device’s download location instead.
Certification Group Access
A result’s certification group identity is defined by the certification group of the result’s location. Only results within a user’s certification group access will be visible. The certification group value will not be updated when reprocessing a result. See Certification Group Access for more information.
Adding
Results can be added manually for device types where manual test entry through the RALS™ SYSTEM is enabled.
In addition to normal institution access restrictions, you can only add results for your Device Access Locations.
When adding a result manually, if multiple time zone support is also enabled, the Result Time should be entered relative to your time zone preference. See Preferences for more information.
See Add Fields for more information.
Editing
Results can be edited. Results cannot be bulk edited.
See View or Edit Details Fields for more information.
Cloning
Results cannot be cloned.
Deactivating or Deleting
Results cannot be deactivated nor deleted.
Result Actions
The following actions are available for results:
- Upload
- Review
- Resend
- Do Not Upload
- Override
- Assign Orders
- Record Notification
- Complete
- Enter Respiratory Values
- Enter User-Defined Values
- Reassign
- Recall
- Resolve Duplicates
- Send Message
Upload
Upload will attempt to send a flagged result outbound. This is typically performed after a flagged result has been reviewed or corrected. Patient results with the following statuses can be uploaded:
- Acknowledgement Pending
- Evaluate
- Upload Failed
- Do Not Upload
Multiple results can be selected; eligible results will have their statuses transitioned to Upload Pending.
Review
The Review action is used to add review notes to one or more results. See Result Reviews for more information.
Resend
Patient results with a status of Upload Complete can be manually resent to the LIS.
Multiple results can be selected; eligible results will have their statuses transitioned to Upload Pending. When a resent result is successfully uploaded to the LIS, the status is changed to Upload Complete and the Transfer Time is updated.
Do Not Upload
The Do Not Upload action is used to indicate a result should never be sent outbound. Patient results with the following statuses can be changed to Do Not Upload:
- Evaluate
- Upload Failed
Multiple results can be selected; eligible results will have their statuses transitioned to Do Not Upload.
Override
The Override action is used to manually specify patient result details (identifiers, panel code, or other information) to be used when the result is uploaded. This is particularly useful in situations where the information cannot otherwise be automatically determined by the RALS™ SYSTEM. Your outbound interface will need to be configured to support override functionality.
Multiple results can be selected; if all selected patient results use the same type of outbound interface, then an override screen will be displayed.
Assign Orders
The assigned orders action allows users to assign one or more orders to a patient result. Orders can be assigned if:
- The user has Results Manage permission, and
- The selected patient result has one of the following statuses:
- Evaluate
- Do Not Upload
- Upload Failed
- Upload Complete
- Evaluate
Orders can be assigned or unassigned to the patient result.
If the patient associated with the result is changed, then any assigned orders are removed.
Record Notification
Record Notification is used to add notification notes to a result. See Result Notifications for more information.
Complete
The Complete action is used to finish the evaluation of an incomplete result. A result will have a status of Incomplete when certain required information was not received from the device. After the required information is added to the result, it can be evaluated to complete its processing within the RALS™ SYSTEM.
Only one result can be completed at a time.
After completing a result, there may be a slight delay while waiting for it to be evaluated.
Enter Respiratory Values
Respiratory values can be appended to patient results with the following statuses:
- Evaluate
- Do Not Upload
- Upload Failed
- Upload Complete
Selecting a respiratory setup will determine which respiratory values are appended. Once entered, respiratory values are treated as entered result values.
Respiratory values can be appended to a single result for device types that support respiratory entry.
Enter User-Defined Values
User-defined fields are only available for certain device types with the following statuses:
- Evaluate
- Do Not Upload
- Upload Failed
- Upload Complete
The labels for these fields are configurable.
Reassign
The reassign action allows you to assign a new patient to a result that has already been sent to the LIS. Patient results can be reassigned if:
- Result reassignment is enabled in System Settings, and
- Result status is Upload Complete.
When a result is reassigned, a clone of the result will be created and all result-related information will be copied except:
Field Name | Notes |
---|---|
Patient | You will be prompted to enter a new one |
Order | You will be prompted to enter a new one |
Status | Reassigned results will be set to Upload Pending |
Review Notes | No user input is needed |
Notifications | No user input is needed |
Transfers | No user input is needed |
Recall
The recall action allows you to modify a result that has already been sent to the LIS by changing the values of specific parameters to a predefined value. Patient results can be recalled if:
- Result recall is enabled in System Settings,
- Result recall value options are defined, and
- Result status is Upload Complete or Reassigned.
A note that will accompany each changed value in the message to the LIS is required.
The recalled result’s status will be transitioned to Upload Pending.
Resolve Duplicates
The Resolve Duplicates action is used to select which duplicate values will be sent outbound. Some device types support sending multiple values for the same parameter. For patient results with multiple parameters, a single value must be selected for outbound upload.
The Resolve Duplicates action is available for patient results with the following statuses:
- Evaluate
- Do Not Upload
- Upload Failed
- Upload Complete
Send Message
A message can be sent to the operator for one or more results at a time. The Send Message action is available if the operator for at least one selected result is eligible to receive a message.
An operator is eligible to receive a device message if:
- the result’s device type supports operator messaging, and
- the result’s operator is within the logged in user’s institution access, and
- the result’s operator has a non-expired certification for the result’s device type, and
- the result’s operator is active.
An operator is eligible to receive an e-mail message if:
- the system is configured for e-mail, and
- the operator has a valid e-mail address, and
- the operator is active.
See Messages for more information.
